Video Tour of the new Voxman Music Building

"At the most elemental level, our new home means that faculty, staff , and students of the UI School of Music are now in a single facility again for the first time in more than eight years. The convenience and efficiency of a single location is, of course, most welcome, but it takes a back seat to having everyone working together in an outstanding facility specifically designed for learning and experiencing music. That is the real game-changer for our students and faculty," says David Gier, director of the UI School of Music.

The New Voxman Means a New Chapter for the UI School of Music

The new Voxman Music Building is a symbol of the University of Iowa’s commitment to music education and will reestablish the school as a vital cultural resource for the university and the Iowa Cty community. This dynamic and transformative structure signals an important new chapter in the life of the school. However, the late Himie Voxman remains the central figure in the school’s special history. Professor Voxman set the standard for the musicianship, professionalism, historical research, and intellectual curiosity which continues to define the UI School of Music to this day.
